Am doing the newspaper questline after I reunited them all… so happy for them but fuck PLEASE can you guys learn a new song?

Or, even finish the one you’re currently playing, it’s only 30 seconds or so long and just loops forever. I’ve had to start muting the game whenever I’m near a stable, I write music for a living and this week had that sodding theme (along with the 'Yah yah!" from the conducter) stuck in my head for days, one of the worst earworms I’ve ever had. When I finally got some music done, one of the synths now strongly reminds me of 'Yah yah!", noooooo.

Would be great if we could have sliders for the music / sound FX, at this point I’d rather put a Spotify playlist of classical music on!

That’s funny because I feel the opposite - I think the additional instruments make the song more pleasant ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I completely understand though how annoying a repetitive song in a game can be.

Have you done the stable / newspaper quests yet? I really enjoyed bringing the band back together and hearing their song grow, instrument by instrument. I remember hearing the finished article and thinking wow this sounds epic now! But by the 30th loop it was grating, by the 300th loop it was unbearable haha

I remember reading ages ago about why it’s so rare for someone to be highly talented in both music and drawing… something about the visual / musical parts of the brain being inversely proportional, no idea whether that’s true or not but I have aphantasia (no mind’s eye), conversely my mind’s ear is extremely acute, almost overdeveloped. I have ‘photographic memory’ for sounds and music, so a simple earworm can quickly turn into torture for me

I’ve done maybe half of them of the quests so admittedly I haven’t been pushed to my limit haha.

Interesting condition you have though - I’m sure it comes with some good and bad!

Definitely some upsides. After I’ve watched a film or binged a series, my internal monologue uses their voice. Having Morgan Freeman or Nick Offerman as internal monologue is amazing!

However as you probably can guess, it’s a double-edged sword when it takes on the voice of less-lovable ‘celebrities’, or decides to play ‘Cheeky Girls - The Cheeky Song’ on a loop all day haha.

I like that their music compliments the stable music, but I miss just hearing the pure stable music. It was such a comforting song to hear when you go to a stable after adventuring. It was probably my favorite music in BotW.

The really weird thing about the band is, the flute, horn and violin fade away when you walk even a little ways from the bandstand, but that fucking drum can be heard a mile away! I hate that drum! It drones on and on monotonously! It ruins the stable music. I wish there were an option to just mute the drummer. Or murder him. Either would be fine.

I would pay $20 for DLC that makes the band go away and do other things. When I replay the game, I’m not going to rescue the drummer. I don’t need level 4 armor anyway!

Hahaha. That damn drummer! Will almost certainly do the same, two levels to unlock any effects is good enough for me. It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one being driven slowly mad by this music loop!

My major issue is the fife player is extremely shrill. I’ve had to just leave a stable and do something else because I couldn’t take it anymore.

Stuff like this is why I’m kinda regretting not going full-pirate mode on this game. It’s not like I haven’t paid for a console & the game itself! I almost always choose a PC version of games where possible, specifically so I can mod if I choose.

Where is the ‘replace the Stable Trotters with dark techno’ mod?

I had the same thought. Maybe when I do a replay, I’ll use my PC. I did that for my most recent BotW replay. You get better shadow detail, and higher resolution. 60 FPS didn’t work well because it made menu navigation so fast that the merest tap would scroll to the first or last option in a conversation. I said the wrong thing so many times and then set it back to 30 FPS.

I feel certain there will be a mod to adjust the Stable Trotters music.

The 60fps causing a struggle to select the right convo, interesting. Wouldn’t have expected that. I must admit feeling a deep regret that I bought a switch for the 3rd time, for Zelda again… as I started seeing videos of people emulating it on steam deck almost straight after I bought it. I almost always choose to play a game on PC where possible because I love being able to mod games so they suit me / my playstyle.

A good example is Cyberpunk 2077… that is almost unplayable for me running vanilla. The HUD is too small; the onscreen map is ridiculously tiny necessitating constant u-turns; the vehicle handling is awful; all fixed with mods.

It can get pretty annoying, yeah. I tend not to spend much time at stables, partially for that reason.

I… DECLARE… BANKRUPTCY! Seriously though I’ll be interested to know if you feel the same way end game. My current favourite aspect of the Stable Trotters (I won’t use their final name so as not to spoiler) is, if you go speak to the conductor while they’re playing as an ensemble, he has a… realisation about his place in the group.

What I really hate is that at the Outskirt stable, one of workers yells at you when you get close to it. I absolutely hate going near that stable and will avoid it if at all possible so I don’t have to hear her go “HIIIII!”. It took me a while to figure out to get the stable trotters carriage up to the fairy so she kept yelling at me over and over.

The characters do make some very weird noises in place of talking, don’t they! I’m finding another mute-spot is upgrading at the fairy fountains. No idea wtf my neighbours think I’m watching when she emerges then upgrades my gear. “MMMM-MMMMM! OOOOOOOOOHH! AHHHHHHHHH!!!”
