I’m not participating this year - in fact the one and only time I tried, something really life-shaking happened in the middle and I never finished. But that’s another story. My daughter did nanowrimo as a high school project and came through it with a 60k word teen romance novel. I was just curious how everybody’s doing at this point.

I did take part, and managed to do what I usually manage to do. Rather than pacing myself and writing a little every day, I got a little carried away and finished my story on Day 10.

But the other part of it is I have no life. Generally any time I’m not working I spend at home, either gaming, or pootling about on the computer. So writing a story in 10 days seems… relatively easy :)

I’m going to leave the community open (sorry – couldn’t remember if it was a thread, sub, space or what for a moment – far too many message boards!!), although I think it will get very little use before October next year, but you never know – people might want to write advanced plots or do games and such.

Cool, that’s fast progress. I remember 2000 words/day being my goal, which at my pace was about 2.5 hrs. I was halfway through a comedy D&D saga about a party of screwups when my daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor - she got cured but it took a year, still living with the after-effects. Every October I toy with starting again but there’s always something - this year it’s getting a greenhouse built for my wife before winter hits. I also have a ton of hobbies. I think keeping the channel open would be good, probably not much activity through the year but at least retain a presence.
