These Italians have released some awesome tunes!
Not sure why I missed them until recently. Glad I found out eventually!

I’m currently in the process of familiarizing myself with their discography, but haven’t got hold of every album yet. So far ‘Black As Pitch’ and ‘Mater Of All Evil’ stand out to me.

Based on reviews it looks like ‘Draculea’ is one to avoid, though I haven’t heard it myself. Might check this band out more if I find a song or two to latch on to.

‘Draculea’ is definitely the odd one out. But I have been listening to it a few times, and it strikes me more as courageous! I’m not sure what they were going for, but it seems to be it’s own entity. There are influences reaching from African tribal percussion to gothic voodoo to Nirvana-esque alt rock to Australian digeridoo to 1990’s triphop even! It doesn’t work out flawlessly, but it certainly isn’t a bad album. It’s just VERY different from their other work, and is probably a few steps too far for pure metalheads… For those whose tastes reach further, there is an interesting album to explore! I kinda like it, and will give it some more time to grow on me :)

I could learn a few things from you about keeping an open mind, especially when it comes to this music!

              Thanks for the compliment :)
I started out as pure metalhead, but when I got to work in an alternative recordstore, I got confronted with a lot of different music, so I expanded my horizons. I met people who were, for instance, as passionate about reggae as I was about thrash, so that got me searching for the ‘core’ of a lot of styles. Now I know that there is a ‘hardcore’ to almost all styles, and it is usually found in the underground of any style, before the commercial versions take over. Ambient or drum’n’bass or techno or afro can be just as hardcore as metal, it just takes time to learn the ‘language’ of each style to recognize it. But once you get there, it is so rewarding and satisfying to be able to connect and understand so many styles. It’s like food: I love pizza, but why limit myself to just eating pizza all my life? There is so much more to taste out there! ;)
