Hi all,
First PC build in about a decade. I’ve seen this issue multiple times online but no real solutions posted and the few I have seen haven’t worked.
AMD RYZEN 5 7600X 6 CORES 12 THREADS UP TO 5.3GHZ THERMALRIGHT ASSASSIN X120 REFINED SE ARGB CPU AIR COOLER
SAPPHIRE PULSE RADEON RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6 GRAPHICS CARD CORSAIR RM750E 750 WATTS FULL MODULAR LOW-NOISE ATX POWER SUPPLY MSI PRO B650M-P AM5 mATX Motherboard [PRO B650M-P] G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB (2X16)DDR5-6000 CL30 BK Kingston 2TB NV2 PCIe Gen4 SSD [SNV2S/2000G]
I’ve taken a lot of care, read the manuals and watched videos/tutorials on steps as I went. It was pretty much as I remembered the last time.
I complete the build, turn it on and get the red and yellow light on the EZ Debug.
I have reread the manuals, read Reddit and forum threads, watched YouTube videos of individual component installs to see if I’ve done something wrong - I don’t get it.
I pulled the GPU and one stick of RAM.
CMOS Reset.
Tried combination of Ram in different ports.
Reflashed BIOS, saw it was a beta, downloaded last stable version and reflashed.
Pulled and reseated CPU plug.
Changed out to second CPU plug.
Used both CPU plugs on PSU.
Reseated CPU and heatsink.
Tried every ram slot with both sticks.
I’ve run through every solution I can think of and read about, nothing works. Any ideas?
Imgur album, hopefully I’ve just missed something and I’m an idiot.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT - I’ve tried every suggestion in the thread, I thank you guys for your assistance. I have no idea what the deal is. I have no other PSU/MOBO/CPU. The parts are split between 2 stores, so this should be painful.
Make sure all the case standoffs are in place and that no metal or anything is touching any portion of the motherboard. Shorts can cause this.
Pull every single component except the cpu, mobo, psu. See if it gets any further in boot.
It’s rare but DOA components do happen these days. The only surefire test to do next would be to find someone willing to swap CPU’s and see if the dead problem follows the cpu or the motherboard. Then it’s rma open season
I will double check that, thanks for the suggestion
One thing that comes to mind is that Ryzen mobos are sometimes very sensitive to mounting pressure, so backing the cpu screws off slightly might also help. Strange as it sounds I’ve had some similar problems in the past that just turned out to be me being overzealous with a screwdriver
Intriguing, not sure why you’re being downvoted. Thanks for the suggestion
Yeah no idea what the downvotes are about, it’s kind of an edge case problem, but it’s an easy thing to test and mounting pressure causes all manner of gremlins…
According to another forum, the first boot on this board/cpu can take several minutes, have you tried just turning it on and waiting awhile?
I have left it on for a couple minutes, but not in a few problem solving cycles. I’ll give it a go tomorrow and see. Thank you
Memory training can take 5+ minutes.
I had a similar issue once. Did a CMOS reset and let the first boot after run for like 15 minutes and that fixed it.
Alright, I’m combining a few ideas, going to do a CMOS Reset, put my GPU back in and let it run for 15 minutes. If not, then I’ll reseat the MOBO.
It’s also possible you have a faulty motherboard. I would try the CPU on another board, if one is available, and go from there. The same problem on a different board would rule the board out, if it boots than it’s likely the Mobo.
First off, I’m pretty sure the 7600X doesn’t have an integrated GPU, and it won’t boot without a graphics card installed. Plug in your graphics card and make sure it’s powered. The debug LED code says there’s a problem with the CPU (Right? Double check the manual). Unfortunately you probably need to take the cooler off and reseat the CPU itself. Make sure the lever is properly engaged. Don’t worry about the thermal paste now, just try to get it to complete POST.
The 7600 has integrated graphics, and your computer absolutely will boot with no GPU. Without an OS it won’t do anything, but it will boot.
Noted - thanks
The 7600 has integrated graphics
Ah - you’re right. My info is outdated. Nice of them to start adding that on the x600 line.
I did another CMOS Reset, put in the GPU and let it run for 15 min as someone suggested - nothing.
I don’t think my GPU is powered, but unsure why. I assume it would have a light or something on it, the fans aren’t even spinning. Have I done something silly?
The graphics card looks okay. It probably has a passive mode where the fans only spin up under load. If it doesn’t that suggests an issue with the power supply affecting both the CPU and GPU.
I was curious about the integrated GPU as I read some AMDs don’t have them. I haven’t put the GPU back in for a while, so I’ll give that a go first up.
Yes it’s an issue with the CPU, but the only hint is ‘CPU not detected or failed’. The manuals leave a lot to be desired.
I’ve taken the cooler off and reseated the CPU, the lever is very firmly down and locked in place. I’m leaning toward reseating the MOBO as some have suggested here, it’s the only thing I haven’t really played around with at this point.
Thank you
