Anyone else find it refreshing to go back to using low-tech/no-tech products?

Literally seeking out products that don’t require an app or an internet connection or a TOS before using it?

I do, and hope that there’s still a market for such items in the future.

Yes, I’ve recently started wearing an analog watch. No WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.; just the time and date. I find it elegant in its simplicity.

The next big thing will be WiFi capable batteries.

Better get yourself a fully automatic…watch.

And if you fried your food in lard like God intended, this wouldn’t have happened.

(Also screw things that need phone apps to function and especially screw phone apps that then ask for every permission they possibly can hoping people just spam ‘fine whatever, i just want to make dinner’ as the response.)

    (/s, kidding, etc.)

Three air fryers, made by the Chinese brands Xiaomi, Tencent and Aigostar

Meanwhile, smart TVs made by Hisense and Samsung which were tested by Which? asked for people’s postcodes during set-up. Samsung’s TV app also asked for permission to be able to see all the other apps on the user’s phone.

From what I understand, zip code is used with the live TV offerings on some smart TVs to personalize what local news stations they show in the lineup. I hate smart TVs in general (i just want a big monitor again), but this doesn’t seem too nefarious, and from what I’ve seen its skippable.

I don’t even have my air fryer plugged in if I’m ot using it. I’m terrified that it is still on and will burn down my apartment.
