Didn’t watch the full video, I skip through it and read the description. I already knew about it.

    Problems:

1: Interstate compacts may require congressional approval

2: Supreme court could declare it unconstitutional

There is no pathway to remove the EC that does not include small states voting against their interests and giving up their power.

EC is a non-starter because it is baked in

That’s a fair position. Do you not think there enough states that are large enough to eventually swing that vote in favornof abolishment? I’m still in the camp of thinking it could eventually happen, but I’m interested in your thoughts.

It’s not a matter of whether. I think there are enough large States. That’s just a math question. You can’t get to 270 electoral votes without involving some states that have outsized power relative to their population. And even if they did vote to join the compact, they could always reverse that vote at any time.

This conversation is designed to distract from real solutions that involve some soul-searching in the Democratic party.

Once abolished though, wouldn’t it be difficult to bring back? Seems it would take more than just recanting their vote.

What other solutions do you have in mind though? The platform definitely needs some adjustments. No way they can continue as is.
