I’m a noob to this. Can someone provide instructions on where to and how to join a watch party?

This is a weekly Mastodon watch party 6PM PT every Sunday. You will need Mastodon or a Fediverse software capable of using hashtags. You start watching the movie at that time and you filter for the Monsterdon hashtags, so that people’s chatter is roughly synced up to the point of the movie you are watching.
If you’re talking about other kinds of watch parties you’ll need to be more specific. Like just having a group of friends over or doing something with B-movie lovers from your local community, or other social media watch partiess will depend on the group.
This one in particular. I just found this group and I wanted to join in.
I just started watching a couple weeks ago and I’m still new to Mastodon. Anyway, what I do is:
on a laptop, open two browser windows, side by side
- One to https://mastodon.social/tags/monsterdon which automatically updates to the most recent post that people make on Mastodon using the “monsterdon” hashtag
- The other to the movie; usually https://miru.miyaku.media/ but once I did youtube
Another possibility: I’m thinking of putting a Mastodon client on my phone and watching the comments on the phone while I watch the video on a laptop or TV; I’ve done something similar for sports games and Eurovision.
I guess I could do it all on the phone, with a “split screen” and Mastodon on one half of the screen and the video on the other half.
