Can’t use ‘native’ as an excuse if your argument is it runs games better. Can’t blame hardware if you’re ignoring recommended specs from the developer. Can’t say it runs the exact same if you have no evidence. -It’s just propaganda. Can’t blame nVidia for not being open-source when they lead the industry and profit from trade secrets.
People around these parts cant seem to grasp that most people don’t actually want to constantly tinker with their computer to get shit to work.
Linux is cool and all, and I’m happy its an option, but to try and recommend it to an average user as an alternative to an OS that every piece of software is designed to work on is absurd.
I switched to linux from windows almost a decade ago. Took hours to get my video driver working properly. Worked modestly well, but I hated windows gaming so I didn’t do much prior. Takeaways: Linux runs like a beast, windows runs like a beast wearing a full body cast, Linux gaming with the addition of proton and additional support is nearly a flawless experience. Thirdly, Linux is free, enjoy your bloatware chumps, for a few measley fps I get a free operating system that you can literally build a career around with all of the quality free education online. Windows you better buy that Damn how to book.
It is not ‘free’. By using, and promoting ‘free software’ you’re hurting the industry by holding back tech advancement, and killing paid jobs. Microsoft, Adobe, etc in some ways love FOSS because it kills any real competition.
‘Takeaways: Linux runs like a beast, windows runs like a beast wearing a full body cast’
Unsubtantiated claims promoting Linux are not welcome.
FOSS kills competition? If we shoveled more billions to the megacorps, we’d have even better tech? Interesting take.
~30 years in development and it’s still not caught up to Windows or Mac. In some cases it’s decades behind still. There’s the kernel which gets a lot of support, SystemD, and Blender (which started proprietary). SystemD gets hated even though it’s chosen by every mainstream distro (So much appreciation for the work that dev put in that he literally has no real competition!) SystemD even inspired the latest software coming from LGUG2Z (who has made the best dynamic tiling window manager for Windows 11).
