Daily drive a Pixel 7 Pro with GrapheneOS. Does 90% of my daily needs while use my PC for the last 10%. Planned to use a spare phone with Stock Android for my holiday. Pixel 7 SIM card tray broke inside the phone. I love the Pixel software features, but with this, fingerprint issues and past battery issues, i dont know if i want another pixel phone after this

Weather update: Can hotspot from my GrapheneOS phone to my Stock OS phone. It works in a temporary fix, excpet my GrapheneOS phone goes from full chage to 20% in half a day. It can work in a pinch, but it needs to be a very quick pinch. GL with your OpenSource journeys.

The Pixel 7 supports eSIM. Does the service you were planning to use support it?

Ill look into it. I prefer the old school physical sim. Can easily awap from one phone to another.

Do you have to pull the tray out with the little tool, or does the tray spring out when you push the tool into the hole? I’m asking because your main pic shows the tray hanging to the tool… Never seen that. The phones I use let the tray spring out when one pushes into the hole.

And thanks for warning. I will consider this problem when buying the next phone.

That sucks. Honestly, after seeing how Sony handles the SIM tray I consider the traditional version with the pinhole outdated. Unfortunately that’s the one everyone else uses…

But yeah, as sometime said, you could try going with an eSIM plan. The eSIM might not arrive in time, though.

    :(

They really don’t put much plastic in these things.

I hope for a world where little phone competitors are more viable, then we might see some actually caring about bits like this. There are a few but they’re expensive and I balk at the cost of new phones anyway (I use second hand ones off eBay).
