He’s 8. He loves destruction, so this is a great game for him. The puzzles got to be a bit challenging after 5-10 levels, but there’s a sandbox mode that he loves goofing off in.
Also he loves that all the vehicles function.
Second this, the mechanics are crazy fun, but the story mode gets hard fast (and requires quick reflexes and actual planning).
We’ve been using the spray can to create our planned path, which helps navigate unfamiliar levels and find your way through complex areas.

My 9 year old has been obsessed with Spore YouTube videos lately and he asked for it for Christmas. Picked it up for $2 and he has been constantly talking about his species and the plans he has. Best bang for my buck Christmas present ever.

I saw some good deals on my local second hand market for steamdecks, might be worth looking into. Just make sure to always meet in person and check if there’s nothing wrong with the steamdeck you’re buying.
