Big one for me since my biology refuses alcohol. :(
Sobriety Powwow
When: Tuesday, Dec. 31 starting at 1 p.m. Where: Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232
With NYE being a popular holiday to knock back alcoholic drinks, the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest offers a powwow for sober people who still want to celebrate the new year. The free event includes youth activities, Aztec dancers and raffles.
Pretty cool!
Do you avoid bars? I tell this to a lot of folks. Bartenders do appreciate non-alcoholics. If you’re the designated driver (DD) or not drinking because of health reasons, hopefully you don’t feel like a pariah.
I work behind the bar and i love the non-drinkers. May it be a glass of water, a soda, or a mocktail, doesn’t matter to me!
I also finally convinced my restaurant to make mocktails on the menu. A lot of bartenders may know how to as well. Ask!
Now if you avoid bars because of the loud TVs, absolutely understandable. Sorry about that.
Mocktails have become a bigger and bigger thing in the past few years, that’s actually a huge improvement.
But, yeah, for years and years I never bothered with bars because it was just stuff I couldn’t drink + loud music I hate. “Why am I here?” LOL.
Biochemistry of it for anyone interested. tl;dr - one beer makes me puke for 3 days.
