Immagine having space for trains on the ground. Elevated Trains need to be elevated because we clinge to a car dependent infrastructure, otherwise we would have more than enough space.

Ground tracks can divide neighborhoods in the same ways a highway can; but still a very valid point. We don’t think twice about bulldozing and cutting for roads.

Well, they registered levels of noise higher than the safety margin in people’s backyard during the test phase… So yeah, there a pretty good reason to complain when you have to hear that every 4 minutes…

Current numbers vs a study from 1993.

I would also ask you to point out where I said that cars were any better… Although let’s be clear, cars produce the same level of noise at speeds/RPM that are of no concern in urban areas, which is not the case for the REM as it produces that noise in urban areas.

Doesn’t the REM follow the 30, over the Champlain, then shunt over to the train tracks that are parallel to the Bonaventure?

Those are already very noisy areas, no?

And the REM is still noisier than what people were already used to.

People are complaining in Griffintown, Pointe-Saint-Charles ans l’Île-des-sœurs.
