I guess it was too much to hope for the article to call out Cheney for being a bloodthirsty war profiteer. Just more Jan 6th bullshit.
What’s your take on January 6th?
It was a riot by worshippers of an authoritarian demagogue, but its danger is severely overstated to justify more government overreach and diminished civil liberties. And the DC police were likely involved to some degree, but both parties are too afraid to criticize police to actually look into it.
But no, at no point during the riot was there any actual risk of a government takeover. You don’t get to control the government because you take over a building. It’s not a game of capture the flag. The people perpetuating this narrative are lying fascists trying to entrench their power to preemptively strike against the actual people’s revolution that they know is coming. It won’t work though.
A needed reminder, thanks, that of all Trump’s many crimes, 1/6/2021 probably isn’t in the top ten.
If he doesn’t halt arms shipments to Israel on day 1, he’ll immediately be guilty of the worst crime a person can commit.
Or, just like every president in the last 80 years.
How about we keep Halting Genocide as a goal, but stop using it as a metric to decide “better” is just as bad as “the worst ever”.
No, not the same. Much worse during this genocide. Biden is currently in violation of both domestic & international law in continuing to arm during genocide.
I have bad news for you about literally every other American president.
Carter and JFK are the only ones in recent memory who even had little caveats attached. It wasn’t all that long ago when we were doing our own little Gaza operations in Central America, instead of having to arm someone else’s.
You can hate her and think she deserves whatever karma comes her way, but that doesn’t make the perversion of the American justice system into a weapon against Trump’s enemies any more okay.
We speak for the shitty war profiteering bitch now, in the hope that no one will need to speak for us later.
I don’t support weaponization of the justice system to attack political enemies, which is why I also didn’t support it being used that way against Trump.
I oppose Trump using it the same way, but don’t mistake that for support of the Democrats’ corruption over the past four years.
I think you want to separate the “Democrats are trampling the rule of law, January 6th prosecutions are politically motivated” account from the “US and NATO are starting world war 3 and Russia is just defending itself against their wild aggression” account.
Just a suggestion. The conjunction of the two is going to make people look at you funny.
@[email protected] You can stop abusing the report system. Highlighting propaganda is not ad hominem, and replying to someone who has been repeatedly commenting on my stuff is not “stalking” them.
Facts don’t care about political alignment. It’s confusing for you, because you treat politics like team sports.
You might wanna separate your account posting support for WW3 from the one denying every western aggression across the globe.
Ooh, I like this — the author is right, of course. Like everything in Trumpland, the real scandal is that the media is covering it as if it’s normal. La-dee-da, la-dee-da.
This piece is well-written, makes the point and gets out, without loitering around like the author’s paid by the word. Obligatory gotta say I hate Substack, both philosophically and for its gawdawful annoying UI, but a few of the very best Substacks are on my surf cycle, and Public Notice is now added, grazi.
If you have an rss reader, just add the substacks you want to that instead.
Had to read that sentence three times before it stopped saying to me, “If you have an ass reader…” I need better glasses, but thanks. (:
