Maybe we could use a spelling of friend that wasn’t used by pepe nazis as a dogwhistle, so we can see it’s about autistic masking and not face masks though.

Fascists appropriate things that are popular specifically so that they can gradually indoctrinate people in a seemingly friendly way. Pepe, the ‘fern’ thing, the ‘ok’ sign held in a certain way, religion, all kinds of stuff.
