Aren’t we all starting off with a fantastic new year?..
Are they pooling blood under the nails? Are you in severe or increasing pain? If so you want to drain it sooner than later, especially if your interested in keeping the nails.
Use a needle or unfolded paper clip, heat it till it’s glowing red and push it through the nail. Your nails are made of the same stuff hair is, so while it’s glowing hot it goes through like butter.
My grandfather used a drill with the finest bit, but I think the hot paperclip works the best.
Your nail doesn’t have nerves, and the cuticle is separated by a pocket of blood, so you should be able to do it without hurting yourself more. The relief from the pressure release is unreal if you’re in the kind of pain I’ve been in from this.
Nah, it ain’t anywhere near that bad, just a little mild bruising. But thank you very kindly for the advice! ✌️
Not OP, but a fascinating read, thanks!
Try not to do that in the future.
Indeed. At least this wasn’t nearly as bad as when it first happened when I was only 5 years old, my parents accidentally slammed all 4 of my left hand fingers in the car door, fingers bruised for weeks!
This time actually doesn’t seem too bad, took a while for the pain to subside though.
My mom shut my fingers in the van siding door, twice. I’m pretty sure the second time was on purpose, not even kidding.

Did this in November. Then I got irritated by all the pain and removed the mangled nail, discovered pus and some liquid. Very painful. But it felt so good that night. Slowly watching the nail regrow.

Oh, sometimes that sucks so bad. I wacked my thumb 10+ years ago, the nail still hasn’t grown back fully right. Almost… I figure another 2-5 years, lol.
My toe nail was like that. Introduced me to steel toe boots. Going to years now and its beginning to grow right. I feel you.
Oof. My late father had accidentally smashed the hell out of his thumb at work so bad that he had to drill a hole in the middle of the nail to relieve the blood pressure. And yes, it took like 6 months to mostly grow out, and another few years before it grew back enough you couldn’t really see it ever happened. Big ouchie there!
Thankfully my incident only seems mildly bruised, and the pain has already mostly subsided.
My mom accidentally did this to my dad once, and to boot the door was locked. My mom has this bad habit of bursting into horrible laughter during stressful situations so she’s laughing her ass off while my dad screamed in pain as she attempted to get around to the other door to unlock the car and get him out.
Blood under the fingernails? Takes ages to grow out.
Not really, just a subtle line of a bruise if anything. The pain has already mostly subsided thankfully.
But yeah I hear you, it won’t surprise me a bit if the discolored spot takes a few months to grow out.
