Apple users may get $20 each for up to five Siri-enabled devices.
A hearing when the settlement could be approved is currently scheduled for February 14. If the settlement is certified, Apple will send notices to all affected customers. Through the settlement, customers can not only get monetary relief but also ensure that their private phone calls are permanently deleted.
!remindme 14 February
Hm, exactly what my apple fanboy friend said about Google while denying apple would ever do such a thing.
Wow $20! That would get you a whole 1m USB-C charging cable on the Apple Store!! (Plug not included)
I think the point is not to make users money but to financially damage the corporation so they are more careful about ensuring it doesn’t happen again, as are other companies in the same industry.
Why do I feel like $95 million is really pocket change to them?
Edit: That’s right. Their net income was 1000x that number last year according to a quick search.
It is but it also probably didn’t make them any money so no company is going to scoff at a $95M loss.
A good way to test if your phone is secretly recording you:
Say: “I’m gonna kill [Insert Name of the CEO of the company who made your phone’s OS] tomorrow”
If you hear sirens, and people yelling out side of your house, and trying to break down your door, then your phone was spying on you!
Note: Do not try this at home. (do it somewhere else instead)
