While Keir Starmer was trying to enjoy a family holiday in Madeira over the new year, Elon Musk was trying to spoil it. The world’s richest man has been using X to lob insults and slurs in the direction of the prime minister, while teasing the prospect of donating tens of millions of dollars to the Reform UK party.

This potentially gamechanging money has meant his comments – which have been compared to those of a “pub bore” by some users on his own social media platform – have provoked (arguably unmerited) political reaction and media debate. So what issues have been enraging Musk?

America allowed Musk to buy the presidency, so now he believes he can buy any/every nation’s elections.

    What a fucking mess. :/

Let’s just hope he’s wrong about that.

Debatable. Unfortunately ppl equate wealth with intelligence. Honoring the rich isn’t only an American problem

99% sure the same tactics he uses in America will work in the UK. We aren’t as far off as we’d like to think.

Pub bore: A solitary drinker in a pub who importunes others with lengthy reminiscences or other tedious monologues.

    Yup, sounds about right

The media doesn’t elevate pub bores the way they elevate musk. He doesn’t care whether you love him or hate him just as long as he has your attention.
