“Invasion of the Body Snatchers” is a classic sci-fi horror story, inspired by the Red Scare. So, let’s revisit the classics by writing a modern take on the story together to demonstrate [CHAIN], as Lemmy’s format makes it ideal for this kind of storytelling.

Write as much or as little as you like, make up new characters! Write cool plot twists! Use other people’s characters in a different branch!

Ok, let’s start:

The sleepy little town of Crystal Springs, located 50 miles off the highway from Phoenix, Arizona, was as average of a town as it comes. Born as a mining town during the gold rush in the 1800s, in recent years, it has experienced a revival as a popular tourist location thanks to its namesake crystal clear springs, as well as a bustling college town thanks for the recently constructed Arizona University at Crystal Springs.

Little do the residents know, their time for peace and tranquility are at an end, and it all started 6 months ago, when the thing from another world streaked through the sky and crashed into the middle of the forest at the edge of the town.

    [CHAIN]

“Hey, I’m gonna get my liquor license revoked if you drive drunk!” The bartender yelled after Ash.

Ash stumbled out of the local bar, with her car key still in hand, her breath reeking of alcohol.

“Tell that to my stupid friends, just because I threw up in the back of SOMEBODY’S car this one time… I’ve got to get back to the dorm before it gets too late.”

“Give me your keys. Sit down and sober up, I’m going back in to call you an Uber.” The bartender sighed. Begrudgingly, Ash handed over her keys and leaned against her car for support. Ever since that meteor crashed, she’s been seeing men in suits appearing and walking around Crystal Springs. While the parties around AU-CS have gotten out of hand once or twice, it still doesn’t warrant sending men-in-black just to crackdown on underage drinking.

Then, somebody bumped into Ash, and she fell to the ground, barely holding in her vomit.

“Watch where you’re going, dick!” Ash yelled after the man.

The man turned his head and stared at Ash with a vacant expression. It was one of the townies that she’s seen around the town once or twice, but there’s something unnerving about him, his aura or whatever.

Wordlessly, the man turned around and continue walking away.

“Fuckin’ A.” Ash muttered under her breath of cheap beer and vomit. Have people in Crystal Springs lost all sense of manner?
