I mean, he (read, "we”) should end for-profit prisons. It’s not going to happen.

But the center-right Dems don’t want to stop pretending that they’ll win elections by appealing to “tough on crime” voters.

He should end private prisons, but some of those people he let rot in jail for life did some pretty fucked up stuff. I’d prefer we reform prison to a place that actually tries to refit you into society before we start commutations on life sentencing. Otherwise we just release these people into the same environment they left.

Biden should unconditionally release everyone from federal prisons.
