As much, as want to build a great platform as you guys and just leave reddit alone.

I left with a sour taste in my mouth, and feeling sorry for 3rd Party developers for the bullshit move that was done so I will do and ask you to, those who still have an account, do the following:

Install the violentmonkey or tampermonkey extension and add this script to edit all your comments and fill them with random garbage.

script

Alongside that generate a 1GB of noise with ffmpeg with the following command.

ffmpeg -filter_complex "nullsrc=s=1920x1080,geq=random(1)*255:128:128[vout]" -map "[vout]" -t 46 -c:v libx264 out.mp4

idea of this fellow gentleman

And post the noise to every community you are subscribed to, that was forced to open.

After that leave it alone and only comeback after a few days to, if you wish so, delete your account.

Hey, I might make a new post for this but I’m skimming current ones. I want to point out that reddits restoring deleted comments, so it’s possible they’re doing the same with edited ones. I used redact to delete everything a few days ago and realized my entire history was restored. I’m petty enough that I’m editing my top comments and deleting manually so hopefully it isn’t noticed right away. I’m glad I didn’t delete my account yet.

Yeah either way I not touching my reddit account till 1st of July to delete it, but even if this all goes somewhat in favour of reddit, just the fact that they are restoring deleted and edited content might put them into some trouble related the GDPR laws.

For sure, I wanted to save mine for the 1st too, but it’s coming up quick and I want to make some noise in the meantime! I just made a post and got a reply that we should be able to request reddit to delete the content for us. I think I’ll save that for the 1st
