As you can see, nobody even scored half the available points. Though there were some really good smart guesses. Essentially everyone got Oregon, but Miami and BYU did a lot of us dirty. Congrats to @[email protected] for winning! I’ve sent messages to the the winners for them to claim their corresponding gift cards. Thanks to everyone who played or just hung out with us this year. I love our little corner of the internet here, we’ve got manageable numbers of gator and tide fans. In all seriousness though, I do think that this community punches well above its weight in terms of quality content to active user ratio, and I hope that we continue to slowly build up our presence here. To that end, I’d also like to present this post as an open forum on our mod team (specifically me). This is my first time modding for a community, and even though we’re small I want to provide a good experience to our users. Hopefully one day we’re big enough to warrant actual moderation and I can take a step back, but until then I’m all ears if anyone has suggestions on what we can do for our community. Good luck this afternoon to anyone playing, and I’ll see y’all for whatever off season drama comes our way.
we’ve got manageable numbers of gator… fans
I think there’s, like, three of us, two of whom seem to spend more time in the UF comm. That will be entirely unmanageable if we manage a playoff spot. There are sleeping giants, and then there are sleeping trolls.
Congrats to the winners! This was a hard contest but it was fun. I look forward to the final community poll – I haven’t even looked at my model since around the time of the CCGs so I’m curious to see who it declares the champion (my last ranking had tOSU and ND at 1 and 2, respectively, so I’m feeling good about how it’s calibrated).
And to the users, I want to echo OP: I’m also open to all feedback and suggestions for the mod team. I didn’t seek to be one, but I guess being active resulted in me being appointed. So I just try to keep the community going and also hope we can grow alongside the rest of the Fediverse. I try to be pretty hands-off w/ regards to mod actions and I’m grateful to all of you who are able to talk trash while keeping things clean.
One thing I’d like to put out there is that we would like to get a bot set up for next year to at least automate the posting of game threads. The founding mod, Manibusan, had done some research into this and I think we came to the conclusion last season that neither of us had the time and/or scripting comfort level to figure it out. With how tech-savvy Lemmy is, I’m sure some of you might be able to help out. So if anyone is interested, let me know and I’d be happy to share the resources we had discussed.
Congrats and looking forward to the game tonight!
