I’m currently taking all my old Simpsons DVDs and ahem backing them up to my computer and I’d forgotten how good the early season DVD commentaries were and it really made me think how much we lost when DVDs stopped becoming mainstream.

When you heard “Hi I’m Al Jean… and I’m Mike Reiss”, you knew you were going to get a good commentary.

Also the fact that we’ll never get John Swartzwelder on an actual commentary.

aw man I’ve never seen any of this. I’ll try to totally find legitimate copies of these discs for my still in use DVD player in my still regularly occupied living room.

    good shout.

The Simpsons commentary tracks were always amazing. (Honestly Family Guy were as well.)

I hope someday they end up on Disney+ or wherever. I love watching classic episodes and would love to again with commentary.

I believe Family Guy season one was one of the first DVDs I got in the mail from Netflix (you see, kids, in the ancient days Netflix sent DVDs by mail to watch at home).

didn’t raise the rates twice a year or whatever they’re doing these days… they sat on your returns an extra day and mailed your new ones from across the country to slow you down.

Agreed, I have the Back to the Future box set and you get so many interesting tidbits from the commentary. Might have to track down some Simpsons DVDs now.

I remember getting the BTTF trilogy set too. That commentary was great! The Beautiful Mind one too.
