No one ever talks about who set the fire, who poured gasoline on everything, who gave the arsonist fire starter, who enabled the arsonist to get that jerry can of gasoline, who handed him the match, who gave him a ton of money to buy all that fuel.

For people who think Chamberlain was weak or that he “allowed” Hitler to take Czechoslovakia, I would really love to hear wtf you think Winston Churchill would have done in his place.

I’ll remind you that when Hitler invaded Poland, Churchill was PM but wasn’t quite able to stop tanks in Eastern Europe just by stomping his feet and jiggling his jowls.

The Chamberlain “lesson” is a reactionary meme about how diplomacy is worthless and it’s as wrong as two left shoes.

People also talk about this one event as if it exists in a vacuum. No one ever discusses the events that led up to that moment in history.

Namely the fact that western countries, monarchs, corporations were more than willing to either help the German war machine or turn a blind eye to their expansion leading up to the first invasions and military incursions. They all watched or made business deals with the Nazi government for years beforehand as the German military, navy and air force built and expanded. Then everyone acted surprised and shocked when the Germans suddenly started attacking countries.

This is the equivalent of selling gasoline and napalm to a known arsonist and then acting surprised that they burnt down a church.

Tell your history teachers they suck. Churchill didn’t become PM until 10th of May 1940 when Poland was long gone and just as Germans were starting Fall Gelb - attack on France.
