Always happy to see a zoomer figure out that having an army of data scientists figure out exactly what kind of content to feed to precisely you in order to encourage you developing an addiction to the platform, and sell you fake shit and fake lives you can’t afford and can’t ever actually have… is in fact not a natural or good way to mediate and mold human interaction.

I’ve also been using Loops for about a week and not having any kind of sorting at all other than newest videos first kinda sucks. Having an algorithm is not a bad thing. It’s who controls it and how it suggests things to users that can be bad.

Showing things more relevant to what users have liked, watched all the way/multiple times, and/or engaged with is perfectly fine, as long as you’re not manipulating that to brainwash people or push an agenda.

I have an account there that I use on occasion. If I read correctly, it’s still in beta, so not as fully fleshed out as its competition yet. Doom scrolling through the random stuff in this beta is peaceful to me though. I like the variety and no ads.
