OEM blades lasted over 6 years, only needing an occasional wipe down getting them working well again but not anymore. Saved $25 getting replacements from Costco rather than a new OEM pair.
6 years is one hell of a run for OEM blades! Have you ever looked into silicon ones? While they cost more, they are completely silent and as they wear down they actually fill the minor imperfections in your windshield making it act like it’s been covered in Rain-X or similar.
I bought a Jeep a couple years ago and the factory ones came on and scared the shit out of me because I forgot normal blades make that sound.
I just got some silicone ones in December. They are awesome.
SKRAWWW THP-THP-THP-THP. Hate that sound.
Umm… 6 yrs? I get one. What’s your secret?
I usually wipe them down with a wet wipe if they start getting streaky. They also tuck in pretty well when not in use and I’m pretty diligent clearing off my windshield in the winter so nothing really gets stuck underneath them to deform.
I’m also parked in the shade, so very little sun exposure to cause dry rot.
I get more than 6 years. My secret: my car spends less time outdoors than I do.
I find most of the time mine stop working as well they just need wiped off to remove all the dirt. I use them until it’s dry rotten and starts to separate.
