The events unfolding right now are proof. The last I looked, the Lemmy instance isn’t even advertised on the web site. It seems like an afterthought. There are a reasonably large number of people on this instance now, and things like this are bound to happen from time to time. I really do love the mission of SDF as an org, which is why I choose to put the stuff I make here. However, literal Nazi disinformation campaigns should not even have the chance to happen. We need an admin that is more accessible, maybe a second for off hours. I don’t know. But if things like this can happen as is, it may be a reasonable case to shut the instance down. That is unreasonable, I know, but I am very angry right now.
In the meantime posting about this chud is good for bringing attention to it. The other thread about this is why I just blocked the guy so I can get back to wasting my time on my own terms.
Unfortunately, other instances may need to defederate from this one to solve the issue. Hope it doesn’t come to that, of course, but in the mean time, yes, bringing attention to the issue is definitely a good move, no matter the outcome.
Is there any word from admin(s) yet? I’ll try reaching out as well.
Not that I have seen, though it is still early, especially on the west coast.
SDF = Syrian Democratic Forces. I think they have their hands tied up right now.

On a more serious note, what does the donation situation look like for this instance? Demanding more time from an admin is a little bit hard if people aren’t donating and the admin has a life beyond the instance. Probably getting more people on board would be the solution, but that requires trust.
SDF = Super Dimension Fortress. It’s been going since 1987 and they are probably fine for donations. Lemmy is most likely an afterthought.

They may exist, but if they do, I am unaware of them. I’ve used email and Mastodon to contact them, as have others. I tried to make a post on the BBS that this instance is built around, but it was too much of a struggle on my phone.
