Effective Feb. 4, the Postal Service will temporarily suspend only international package acceptance of inbound parcels from China and Hong Kong Posts until further notice. Note the flow of letters and flats from China and Hong Kong will not be impacted.

Web page as of 8:30 AM Eastern time today…

Effective February 5, 2025, the Postal Service will continue accepting all international inbound mail and packages from China and Hong Kong Posts. The USPS and Customs and Border Protection are working closely together to implement an efficient collection mechanism for the new China tariffs to ensure the least disruption to package delivery.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

It’d be hilarious to know how much MAGA swag from temu and the like is now on hold.

Also, this will 100% kill temu/shein/etc… unless they have significant markets outside the US (I can confirm they’re big in both Spain and Canada but nobody buys worthless shit quite like the Americans).

My guess is this is another nail in the coffin for the “unprofitable” USPS. Businesses can’t tolerate disruptions and private shipping companies will be more than happy to step up.

They have posted stating they will continue accepting the mail and evaluating new methods for the collection of Chinese tariffs
