    Saved you a click: Foxhole.

Fun game, I’ve been meaning to get back into it for a while, I just never found the time.

I played it last in 2022, and I would say it’s more WW1, at least from what I remember. Maybe 1920s, considering the improved tanks and trucks.

Would make sense, trenches were all the rage in WW1 (I heard).

I’m pretty sure they’re still the rage, if Ukraine/Russia is any indication.

When it was free on steam it was a much more generic ww2 game and I believe the factions didn’t even have the fictional names they have now.

Now the devs have made a point to say it is not a simulator for any of the world wars though inspiration has been drawn from an amalgamation of 20th century warfare.

It’s completely fictional but the other reply is accurate in that it’s more WWI or interwar period themed.

      From the article:

The war on the Charlie server resulted in a stalemate where neither side was getting closer to winning, both had maxed out their technology, and all players were stuck in an end-game loop of manufacturing, delivering, and fighting with little to show for it.

“The main reason is to ensure that new players that have joined Charlie in the last month get the chance to experience a war as it’s meant to be played, progressing through early, mid, and late phases of the tech tree,”

      -statement by the developer.

Turns out simply releasing the statement was enough to end the war as the upcoming change got players to commit to a big war push and win the game before the change went thru.

Thanks for the context. I did read the article after I posted my comment. My order of operations is backwards and needs to be fixed lol

Well if it’s anything like EVE online these “wars” are rather resource intensive on the underlying infrastructure lol

As a person who plays from time to time, it was more that the war was in a massive stalemate. It was on the secondary server, where less players are on than is required to push the front lines.

Does this game support thousands of players on a single server? EVE deals with that via “time dilation” which slows processes to a crawl so the servers can handle the load.
