The U.S. Department of Justice will refocus much of its staff and resources on the “total elimination” of drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations in the U.S. while disbanding units dedicated to prosecuting white-collar crime and kleptocrats and tracking foreign efforts to influence U.S. elections.

    Sure. Why would anyone need such a thing? They’ve already found it.

    They cared so much about election interference, so strange they would do this. Just kidding. It was always a lie and they are deceivers who want to cheat to win forever.

      The election interference the article references is regarding the foreign influences. I mean the heading literally says, “Foreign influence prosecutions refocused,” and says, “disbanding units dedicated to prosecuting white-collar crime and kleptocrats and tracking foreign efforts to influence U.S. elections.”

      Are you saying that was a lie?

        They = Republicans

        Cared so much = eliminating oversight into election interference. This is sarcasm.

        Lie = sowing doubt about our election systems for the last several years and suddenly silent now that they won.

        Cheat = controlling information flow by manipulating corporations, disenfranchising voters, reducing access to polls, passing laws to restrict voting rights, etc.

          OK but my confusion is that none of that is even what the article is about or found anywhere in the article so I thought I was missing something or misread it.

            I just think you are unaware of the context. This story is about the new administration setting priorities. Were you aware that previously there were many accusations of voter fraud, even if unproven, by the Republicans.

            Why would the people who complained the most suddenly decide it is not a priority. My comment was just a sarcastic take on that one issue because it is kind of a big deal.

    So this is what I felt would happen as a result of Trump’s felonies. Every politician in America watched as a fellow politician’s books were put under the microscope. This is something that has not happened before and open the flood gates for corruption investigations accross the board to get brick walled by either trashing the programs that allowed it or by cutting their funding cut so much they cant keep the lights on. You think Pelosi and her husband’s wealth were accrued without insider knowledge? You think they are an anomaly? Obviously you can throw a dart blind at the republican party and hit someone with shady books but it happens on both sides. All I’m saying is the Trump trials were a catch 22 that even with the guilty verdict the results would push politicians to make changes so it couldn’t happen to them.

    Edit: I’m also not saying the trial was the wrong move. It had to be done. I don’t know if i feel there wasn’t a good way to do it or if i just don’t know of a better way to handle it but through the whole thing I just felt the outcome was going to be a bullwhip response by politicians to protect themselves from sitting where Trump sat.
