I know you could have gotten at least a couple of them. You’ve been here a while yourself!

I can’t stand the fact that there’s no word in English to differentiate those OBVIOUSLY two different kinds of owls like we have in Spanish 😭

It is a bit odd, as I think all the romance languages have at least 2 words for owl except for English. It’s not like England only had one type or the other.

I like how the Germans not only have 2 words for horned vs non-horned, plus the Eagle Owl gets its own word, uhu, but they have some associated aspects of personality, like the horned are supposed to be wise, and the runs headed ones are silly. So I’ve been told here anyway!

I’ve enjoyed learning how other places talk about the owls and hearing different owl jokes and puns.

Does the lowest one on the right happen to be a native of Roswell? Might have found the source of little gray aliens with big black eyes…

Thankfully they are pretty small so they aren’t toooo much of an invasion risk. Yet…

The internet is bizarre. I understand, I guess, how people might mistake this for an owl:

but this looks nothing like one!

What does this have to do with superb owls?

I don’t know, but people are endlessly posting about this in the context of superb owls today. I’m as clueless as you are!
