Explanation: The British East India Company was a British corporation which, in the 1700s and 1800s, managed to worm itself into power over most of the Indian subcontinent, ruling over Indian kings and princes - including a company army that was larger than the actual British army. Akshually…East India Company is a term…you have to put a specific country before it. For instance…we Dutch often shout “GEKOLONISEERD!!!” when Dutch are mentioned anywhere on the internet, which is a direct reference to the Dutch East India Company robbing a country blind…maybe here and there a little human rights violations and pillaging.

Also Hudson Bay Company. They controlled Rupert’s Land in Canada. They were the de facto government for 200 years. They had their own military and even paid out their workers in scrip, so their own currency.

Evil and corporate, certainly; government, no. As horrific as corporate influence in government is, it’s not the same horror as a corporation being the government.
