I’m currently enjoying Jaws of the Lion and is eyeing Middara next.

Arkham Horror is soooo good! The core box isnt the best story but its not bad either. Currently me and my game group are playing through Dunwich legacy and I really like some of the story thematic elements that show up in game mechanics.

Oh yeah that is definitely it’s biggest flaw. It’s hella expensive if you get in to it.

Aeon Trespass: Odyssey without a doubt. It’s expansive, complex, punishing, rich and has such an amazing narrative.
Heavy campaign games that tell a story are what I am all about and AT:O is the pinnacle of this for me at this point.

That said, I also enjoy Frosthaven quite a bit (Gloomhaven as well because the mechanics are sublime, but the story is definitely a weak point); Legacy of Dragonholt is basically a solo-RPG in a board game box; Sleeping Gods is simpler but nice; Tainted Grail, Etherfields and ISS Vanguard are very neat narratively especially when taking the edge off the resource grind; and finally I am looking forward to the second printing of Oathsworn to fulfill.
Oh, The Hunters A.D. 2114 has been very neat too and I’m looking forward to the new The Hunters A. D. 1492 whenever that is done.

So many great story campaign games and so little time .(especially when getting a group to commit)

I’ve been meaning to buy Frosthaven, but the problem (some would call it a feature) is that the Gloomhaven games are so massive and repayable! I still haven’t unlocked all the classes in regular Gloomhaven - and have an unopened Crimson Scales box waiting for me! Not sure when I’m ever going to get around to Frosthaven.

I mean, Frosthaven isn’t going to run away so take your time and enjoy the content you already have. Absolutely nothing wrong with that!
My group managed to unlock all of the classes (including youknowwho) and we played each at least once with the curious exception of the Tinkerer.

I’d love to give Crimson Scales and Trail of Ashes a go but we are looking to start Frosthaven with the group and I’ll likely embark upon all five cycles of AT:O solo in a few weeks.

I went all in on ATO so I cant WAIT for it to get delivered. Awaken realm makes so many story focused games, its awesome!

Awaken Realms has good writing and very insteresting conceptual worlds, I like that very much about them. Their game mechanics could often do with “a little less” however in order to enable a good flow and fun gameplay loop. Still among my favorites though, warts and all.

And man oh man, AT:O has such a ridiculous amount of content and a ridiculous level of quality out already. With wave 2 of the original campaign fulfilling later this year and Twelve Sins of Heracles in 2025 - but in my opinion, Aeon Trespass truly is a lifestyle game in the best possible way.

Clank Legacy has been an absolute blast for my wife and I (we each play two characters). I’ve been a big Penny Arcade fan for ages so the humor hits my sweet spot, and the legacy aspect of keeping the gameplay light and steadily adding a bit more complexity each round as you “earn” it was perfect for my wife who’s a much more casual gamer.

I backed the 2nd season on kickstarter just recently and it looks like they’re leaning even more into the story aspect of legacy gameplay so I’m hoping it still hits the right balance for us.

I love playing regular Clank with my group, maybe I’ll convince them to give Clank Legacy a try!

War of the Ring. It’s basically playing the book. Every event card has some situation conditions to brings an advantage, narrating a book event. The book is so dense in events that you have many situation that brings back memories of this giant story. If you like Lord of the Ring movie/book, you will have fun with it (it’s a very heavy game).

Apart from the above mentioned, I really love Tainted Grail. Really cool setting, good storytelling, and a nice exploration mechanic. I am curious what the 2.0 version will do to iron out some of the kinks.

Looking forward to the updated materials for 2.0 myself, and I’m glad that AR offered them as a complete upgrade pack for the original backers. In Fall of Avalon, without houseruling resource gathering and menhir maintenance (menh-tenance?) the map exploration could easily become an exercise in masochism tbh.

So I’m happy that they toned that down in 2.0 and are going a different way with the wyrdstones in Kings of Ruin :)

The first one is pretty basic, but the second one has a boat mechanic that works really well. The amount of stuff that came out for it is pretty nuts.

You definitely have to do Gloomhaven one you finish Jaws of the Lion. All the extra classes make for a ton of possibilities.

100%, I’m even thinking about re-playing Jaws of the Lion since its not too long with voidborn and demo (maybe adding hatchet or redguard). My current solo playthrough is two-handed with hatchet and redguard and I’m not sure if I’m ready to step it up to three-handed haha.
