I regularly travel on busy tram routes with a number of tram options. One thing I’ve learned is that 90% of people will always board the first tram, even when there are clearly one or two more coming directly after it. This leads to an overcrowded first tram and blissfully empty second and third trams. I consider it an important life lesson. It’s generally best to wait for the second or even third tram. I had the same problem. Actually when I hit late 40s lots less random weird people spoke to me compared to when I was younger. Using being an invisible middle aged woman to my benefit lol.

I can’t find the article I’m looking for, but I love the story of the older Aussie woman artist who decided to make a social commentary about how women of this age are frequently invisible by illegally putting up great big posters of her artwork in public places (in Ballarat and Bendigo I think). She would turn up in a hi vis vest and just put up her posters on public infrastructure without a permit and nobody ever stopped her or asked any questions. She got away with it for ages as I recall.
