My wife and I just got scarlet and violet to play in camp, and my wife wants some of her favourite Pokémon that aren’t in this game (and honestly so would I.)
Is it hard to find someone willing to trade us the Pokémon we want? How do we even go about doing that?
Pop a google search for pokemon scarlet violet trade discord. Highly reccomend joining. Theres a channel there to post and ask for trades. Used it going for my pokedex completion at launch.
Not every pokemon is availble in S/V, so you might need to look up a list of whats possible.
You can also use the pokemon home app to trade pver pokemon from the DS and Switch games.
Internet acces is needed for all the above however.

Gamefreak is an empty shell and there are a lot of pokemon that just do not exist in the game’s code.
Eh we will make due with the ones we can get.
I think these days you can trade for specific Pokemon via Pokemon Home… otherwise you can ask around here or on a trading megathread on Reddit
Though fair warning, not all Pokemon can be used in Scarlet/Violet. You can only use the ones that are already in the Paldea Pokedex (see here, heads-up for spoilers), plus a few more (see here).
I think they’re making more Pokemon compatible via DLC later? It’s a mess lol
