I’m a big fan of both in their own ways. Avatar had overall better story writing, Korra was less restricted to kid friendly scenes.

Except for season 2. The only part I care about there is Avatar Wan

I’ll never understand that debate. They are totally different shows. If you’re looking for another A:TLA, you’ll be disappointed.

You’ll might disagree, but, IMO, it works the same *the other way around*.

TLOK even pokes at it a bit in season 2 when Tenzin is talking with Aang about how he feels like he’s not living up to what Aang was. “You are not me, and you should not try to be me. You are Tenzin.”

Honestly, its because the subreddit and social media are super toxic.

Look in the premiere Reddit comments, and people mostly loved LoK.

I found when I finished ATLA and immediately continued into Korra I wasn’t super into it. But when I watched it as it’s own show I liked it a lot more

  • TLA is my favorite, but both myself and my wife really enjoyed Korra as well. I’m optimistic since the original creators are involved with the recently announced show. Also very much looking forward to Aang movie in 2026.

My favorite reaction shot of Korra is right after what’shername, Kazumi? says “it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.” Getting stank faced by the Avatar? Classic.

I just didn’t like the progression of technology. I like the old world from ATLA. Didn’t like the reoccurring bending game part either.
