Is that why he was arrested or is this click bait?

It says he was arrested when he left the lectern and approached the sitting council. He stated his intention to engage in “peaceful civil disobedience” directly before, so he knew what he was doing.

Good on him for his protest, but I don’t think it’s fair to attribute his arrest to his speech.

So what law did he break? The approaching the city council law?

Certainly I think removing him for breaking the rules of the forum would have been a more appropriate action than arresting him. I didn’t see a reference to any specific law broken, so who knows what local laws exist.

Edit: in the arrest record the law broken is “Disturbance/Etc at Assembly/Etc”.

His protest was the act of leaving the designated speaking area and approaching the council. It doesn’t appear to be about the speech.

Well since he was arrested for “Disturbance/Etc at Assembly/Etc”, it would seem that you are incorrect. Maybe you meant to say, “that shouldn’t be illegal”?

Personally, if the purpose of a public forum is to allow the public to make comments on their government, I see the value in not allowing that to be disrupted, generally speaking.

You’d probably like it less if some MAGA type prevented anybody from speaking out against some anti trans bathroom bill, for example.

        The occupation force was swift.

I think they knew he will approach

This kind of behavior is nothing new for this upstanding citizen. During his time with the Vikings (many years ago) he was very politically active with common sense morality (highly controversial at the time and again now, think advocating for gay rights). He still is very politically active so I’m willing to bet they figured this kind of thing would happen when he requested to speak.
