The U.S. military is considering putting armed personnel on commercial ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, in what would be an unheard of action aimed at stopping Iran from seizing and harassing civilian vessels, five American officials told The Associated Press on Thursday.

If Russia sinks a vessel, they are going to get a big pile of missiles sinking their Black Sea Fleet. It will be up to Russia if they wish to actually start WWIII or just take their lumps for something they chose to start.

It’s time for the Merchant Marines if that’s the case, those guys are actually trained for exactly this stuff, and most are former Sailors, Coasties, and Marines.
Fair play. Right after 9/11, the US Navy was willy nilly boarding merchant ships and zip tying their crews like terrorists. Those crews were lowly Asians though, so they didn’t complain.
