Dave, thanks for creating the community. Wife and I have been on rental boats a few times and love it so much we for sure will be doing it again. We’ve considered a stretch of the Leeds - Liverpool canal as our next canal holiday. I look forward to hearing stories from other canal network lovers. It is a fantastic asset!

Hi Dave. I think this community is a great idea. I’m not a boater myself but I currently live in Cherwell Disctrict where the Oxford Canal flows, as you saw from the pictures I shared. :) I go for a walk along the canal almost daily and I love seeing all the boats and sometimes chatting with people along the way or helping them at the lock. There are some long term moorings where people have set up such unique displays to see along the path, I’ll ask if I can take photos some time.

Hi Dave, Thank you again for taking the trouble to create this community.

The two of us and our dog live on the K&A. We’ve had our boat for a few years, but still feel like newbies!

Only had mine for 2 years. My parents spent lots of time on canals. And my brother and I were technically born when they lived on a boat. But we remember little of that.

    Bit late to the party…

I’m a 2 year liveaboard on the London and surrounding system. I have a very old boat, so have had to learn loads just to keep going.

I’m frankly terrified of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, I’m so bad with heights! Good luck on your journey and there is nothing wrong with going slow!

Hi my name is Dave. I created this community originally as a refuge for redditors escaping.

My brother and I are visually impaired boaters. We own a tiny 25ft narrowboat between us.

We have a mooring on the Thames. Bot swap over as we move the boat around the network through spring and summer.

I am currently on my way towards Fradley Junction on the Coventry. We tend to move slowly.

Our goal is to cross the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct then head back. With each of us doing the opposite bits we did there.

To reiterate haw slow we tend to go. We are expecting to take 4 to 6 months for the whole trip back and forth. We are obviously both retired now.
