Sixteen-year-old Autumn Williams is still trying to understand how the blonde hair color in her braids was deemed unnatural at her Chick-Fil-A job.
Chick-Fil-A responded to our request for comment, saying:
“The operator reached out to (Autumn) Williams today and had a good conversation.
In further detail, the operator explained that the policy was misinterpreted and said Williams was not terminated and she’s more than welcome to come back and work at the restaurant.”
Haha. Someone got their ass reamed by corporate HR & Legal.
I hope she told them that she requires that supervisor be moved to a different location.
She says in the article she’s finding other employment and doesn’t want to work there any more.
That’s for the best. That company is morally reprehensible, and has been this way for over a decade.
I can almost guarantee that it was a friendly conversation. HR reams employees, not managers. They will protect managers like they are family, typically.
Don’t mix religious nuts with my fast food… Anyways, CFA isn’t even that good anymore.
EU Block. Damn. I was expecting to see a photo of a completely normal hair color so that I could raise one of my eyebrows in confusion.
Wish granted.
Ah. Is she half black? Or super tanned? Is that why it is an issue that she has bleached hair? I was expecting something more wild instead of blonde.
I mean I don’t want to racially profile but she looks to be a POC with light-brown-to-blonde hair. Even if she did color her hair (no pun intended) it’s not a remotely outlandish color, even to a religious organization like Chick Fil A. And that’s burying the lede on “So What If It Was Fire Engine Red, Why Should They Care?”
