The joke isn’t that people actually believe he fucks couches. The joke is that he appears to be the kind of creep who would.
For most of us, this joke would simply vanish in a few days. In this case, though, somebody could refer to “that couchfucker” thirty years from now, and I’ll know exactly who they mean.
Future generations (if we get that far) are gonna ask about a trivia question they heard and is all just gonna come flooding back.
