Still incredibly new to all this, so sorry if this a daft question/ wrong place to put it.

But I came across this prefix you can apply to eg - Lemmy.World: https://old.lemmy.world/. It applies an “Old Reddit” theme to Lemmy. I tried it on a couple of communities, and it seems to work.

Except for Feddit.uk.

Anyone know what’s up with that? Who doesn’t old.feddit.uk work?

(Again - sorry if this is a silly question).

To be honest, I think they’re both better than.old - they look nicer and have excellent functionality.

        They are:

We’ve also had a chat about adding Tesseract too.

The front end and back end of Lemmy are decoupled. This means you’re using lemmy through a web app amd API, and it also means third parties can create alternatuve front ends.

There’s an increasing number of them.

The “old” front end is one of these. It doesn’t ship with Lemmy, and needs to be installed and maintained separately by the site’s admins. Not everyone is going to bother, any more than they’re going to bother hosting Tesseract or Voyager.

It would probably be fine to bring it back now we IP ban AI scrapers, though I’d want to monitor it for a bit to make sure. I’ll spin it back up tomorrow evening as I have time then.

Yeah exactly this, I actually went with L.W over F.UK because I want to use the old interface when on a computer
