I wanted to decide whether or not I’d find Tenet great, so I watched for the 3rd time. Here are the disappointments I’m thinking about that made it less than great –

  1. The opera was filled with sleeping gas from those thin tanks. I think a volume that huge couldn’t be filled from those thin tanks. Thanks to CTDummy I’m thinking the tanks had compressed gas, the level of compression was extremely high, the gas was extremely strong and the gas was somehow spread to the target folks. I mean, evenly filling the opera was inefficient. No need to have sleeping gas at the ceiling for example.
  2. Protagonist and Neil going up to Priya’s home was baloney. A contraption that safely projectile-propels a human is complex. Their small contraption was unrealistic.
  3. The launch angle was key. A small error would result in Protagonist going to the building’s wall instead of the balcony. Their projectile way was theoretically extremely hard and they made it look so easy. (I’m not considering the g’s. A human can only take so many g’s before passing out or damaging his organs. g’s have been almost always ignored in flicks. I’m OK with it.)
  4. When they went up to Priya’s home, how did they brake?
  5. Protagonist knocked out some goons so easy. Even a very casual Ufc viewer knows it’s not that easy to knock out someone.
  6. They must make a 🔥 to start the art vault’s emergency process. Surely there was an easier way to make a 🔥 than crashing the ✈ into the building. Also, crashing a ✈ doesn’t guarantee a big 🔥.
  7. When the handlers of the piece of Algorithm saw the surrounding vehicles, why didn’t they ask for aid? It was like they just awaited the other vehicles to squeeze their vehicle.

Of course Tenet has positive things. I don’t wanna make this too long so I won’t write much re the 👍 things. Just wanna say that Protagonist’s and Neil’s friendship was so inspiring and Nolan showed it throughout Tenet sans making dramatic friendship scenes. Props to Nolan.

RE 1: wasn’t this based on the Moscow hostage crisis? You can put quite a surprising volume of compressed gas into cylinders that size. They’re thin relatively but almost as tall as the blokes pushing them and are likely more at other vents in the building.

Tenet was good but I wouldn’t choose to watch it again. Although it’s been a few years so maybe I will.

To all your points though, sometimes it is better to let’s things go and enjoy the spectacle.
