Is there any European alternative to smartwatches like Apple Watch or Garmins?
I feel like at most you can get a sportswatch but not truly a smartwatch with apps etc.
Nothing (UK), Withings (French) and Polar (Finnish) are some great brands to check out
I have a Withings Watch for some years now. I think it is french. It is a Good Watch with smart functions and a classic look .
Suunto is a Finnish brand. I don’t know much about them, but I’d explore them once my Garmin reaches the end of its lifecycle.Edit: Suunto was sold to a Chinese company, read the reply to this comment.
In other context people told, that Suuonto was sold to a Chinese company in 2022. I just found the matching source.
And no… their webpage didnt’ include that info direclty, but I assume that part of the operations still takes place in Finnland.
Damnit. Thanks for the heads-up!
I use the Suunto Race S, really good watch especially for running, cycling and in the gym. Its more a sportwatch with a few handy features but not a real smartwatch. The sleeping and HR are pretty good for me.
If you like open source projects, have a look at the banglejs. It can do most of what other smart watches do, but privacy friendly, and with a runtime of about a week per charge. However, it is less flashy/shiny and a bit more experimental than the Apple watch and the like.
I don’t own sports watches, but k always heard good things about Swatch (from Switzerland), I believe they have a sports line
Not a watch, but still shout out to Oura Ring from Finland.
