This dude carried the team in the playoffs, unless you believe in the “every other day” offensive statlines, and ignore half the court. I really hope we can avoid the low-effort “day to day” Davis nonsense that r/NBA deteriorated into. So even if he doesn’t play 80 games in the regular season, you’re paying him to show up for 16 wins in the playoffs, which he has done before. Whether or not the rest of the team can also deliver is up to debate.

Quite a huge deal for him. He should be thrilled with it. An important player for the Lakers to sign.

I’m surprised he didn’t get 4-5 years on his contract. This is generous for the Lakers when they switch to a rebuild after LeBron retires.

He might be trying to see what the Lakers do post-Lebron. If the Lakers are rebuilding from scratch, he might not want to be on a tanking team. So kind of a win-win situation for both camps?

It’s not like players honor their contracts.

You get the length guaranteed then force your way out when it’s convenient.

Maybe they’re going to finally crack down on that with the whole Dame situation. Unlikely, but who knows. I bet enough owners are pissed to seek enforcement from the league.

You’d think something has to give eventually. So many guys sign huge deals and then start demanding trades within a few seasons.

I would love to see the league do something but I don’t see how. You can’t take away the ability to say you’re not happy and the media will do everything else.

I’m all for massively punitive punishments to a guy pushing to a specific team that hard, though. Fine the player 75% of their salary for the remainder of the contract. But good luck getting the players to agree to 75% of one game worth of fines for it.

Finally! I hope the lakers will add some great players post lebron. I’m excited with the future of the franchise especially with AR15 on the team.
