Wow, that is incredible. I can’t believe they captured him. He could actually stand trial for his horrible crimes, and his victims could finally have justice. The first of hopefully many crazy authoritarian nuts getting what they deserve.

Incredible is the word I’d use too.

And it feels kind of important to watch a dictator have to face justice right now.

Isn’t this the guy Trump praised way back when?

    “ICC is a criminal organization!”

I want to believe that there is still justice in this world, but I’m not very hopeful.

Good. The anti-drug laws in the philippines are barbaric and the perpetrators need to face justice.

Bongbong Marcos is the son of another former president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

In 1972, Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law because of “communism” and committed a lot of human rights abuses like imprisoning and killing journalists, students, teachers, his political opponents, etc. He also plundered a lot of money. Up to this day, the Marcos family uses propaganda to disinform the people of the crimes they committed.

So no, there’s no hope in the Marcoses. The Marcos family shoud quit politics and pay back their debt. Anyway, I hope you learned a bit more about our political situation here.

How TF is this the first time I’ve ever seen a Tagalog post on the internet? And also why is there no good translator?

That’s Baybayin. It’s an old Tagalog script that isn’t really used anymore outside of aesthetic purposes. It’s not commonly taught and used in schools for example. Even I couldn’t read this without a guide. There are some efforts to try to revive it though.

Tagalog is usually written with the English alphabet. Like this: Magandang gabi po. Google Translate works.

        1. 'cause you’re not seeking Tagalog content?
        2. because it’s a small language, used by an extreme minority? More people use a language, more demand for translation. S&D⚖📉🪦

Hrm, I guess… But it’s the 23rd most spoken language globally… Nearly 90 million speakers, and I don’t think I’ve even seen the alphabet until now. I feel like I’ve seen lots of posts from less populous languages…
