Gauguin has become my favorite general down time game. I’ve never tried to be competitive or anything. This is just for kicks and giggles. Share if ya care. Who knows, maybe I’m the only one playing this around here.
I use a puzzle game to gauge my pain levels and cognitive function in ways I cannot detect directly. It is a physical disability thing. I played Sudoku a lot more in the past but Gauguin has become a more recent favorite. When I’m at my best, most puzzles are under 2 minutes 30 seconds with a few exceptions. My fastest time so far is 1:29. Anything faster is hacking and you’ll never convince me otherwise /s
1:29 sounds like a nice time. Not sure how low it can go.
Personally, my best (Medium difficulty, size 6, 4 operations) is about 3 minutes. Though I’ve never been able to get the fast finish setting to work, and I do still like to manually fill in the single cages at the start. Regardless, I feel like even getting it down below 4, I was mostly hoping for a puzzle that happened to be easier.
Any tips on how you do it so quick?
I have all of the multiplication memorized. I’m also doing size 6. I start with a mental map of 5s positions. Then I add ones. I intuit most of the addition for 3 in line where I know there are only 2 or 3 solutions. I wrote out notes to reference for awhile until I got most of it memorized. Like I just know that 2*3*6 is the only path to 36 if it is 3 in a row. If it is on an angle, it could also be 6*1*6.
These are my notes. The starting dash means it is a corner combination
