Hey fellow DBD players. Was wondering what build or builds you’re currently favoring?

For survivor, I’ve been running what I call the second chance build. It’s Adrenaline, Unbreakable, Decisive Strike, and Off the Record. DS and Off the Record are kind of redundant, with Off the Record being much more useful, but it can make for some funny locker stuns. Pair it with Dead Hard for even more laughs ( I suck with DH though).

I don’t play much killer since switching to a controller (extended mouse use hurts my hand and wrist) but I’ll still occasionally play Scratched Mirror Myers. I typically run PWYF, Sloppy Butcher, NOED, and either Deadlock or Nemesis. Of course I’ll need to run an indoor map offering but if my map gets nuked by another offering, I still have NOED for some endgame fun.

As killer I’m addicted to aura reading builds. I am aiming for getting into chases and not losing people during them rather than defending gens. It started with Huntress and Lethal Pursuer, Darkness Revealed, Nowhere to Hide, and BBQ, but when I started doing other killers for challenges and dailies I found myself missing the auras. Sure, I could win with slowdown, but it wasn’t as fun, so I started running Lethal, NtH, BBQ, and I’m All Ears on all killers except Huntress and Trickster. I know that my only slowdown is chasing and hooking people so I expect to lose plenty and aside from certain cases (mostly lag or really BS maps) I have a lot of fun in the match even if I lose, as long as I can get some hooks. I also generally prioritize my challenges over “winning” because that’s my ultimate goal.

My survivor is usually tailored to my challenge as that (and horrendous killer queues) is the only reason I play survivor, so I’ll go overkill healing or gens if that’s what I need to do. I don’t like playing survivor honestly. My generic build is very selfish. Lithe, Dance with Me, Quick and Quiet, and Inner Healing. This is “oh I’ve been found, let’s vault a window with tall walls and vanish during the Dance duration.” Then I walk away and leave the killer looking around the wrong structure. Yes, this gets others killed sometimes. I know, I’m an awful solo queue teammate, but at least I’m not running Bond and taking the killer to others on purpose or hiding in lockers all the time. I really do try to be on gens as much as possible, being able to completely lose the killer has allowed me to do many many gens.

Here’s my ultimate selfish survivor build. It’s an endgame build (1v1). Wake Up, Sole Survivor, Low Profile, and Left Behind.

I’m not great at looping (And yes, I know I’m doing myself zero favors by avoiding it with my build) so I dunno if I’d reach the endgame with a build like that. My biggest issue is definitely lag (2nd biggest is reaction time, so human lag) so on the occasions that I do want to practice looping, I often go down because I can’t throw a pallet or vault a window fast enough. Lag making me incredibly easy to catch in chase is part of why I dislike survivor

For survivor I have two main build I run.

    1. Distortion, Breakdown, Kindred, and Open Handed. I’m soloQ because all my friends who played moved on to other games. Distortion because almost everyone is running Lethal/No where to hide or any other aura perk. Breakdown because killing scorge hooks is nice and it can put the killer at a disadvantage later on, kindred and open handed because I need that info for hook states or to give info to my teammates.

    2. Situational awareness, prove thyself, deja Vu, and distortion. I almost always run distortion on my builds, situational awareness to let my team know I’m doing gens and the aura reading when a teammate gets downed is really helpful, prove thyself for gens, and deja vu to find that 3 gen and the bonus repair speed. I’m happy they buffed it to keep 3 gen aura active all the time and keep the extra 5%.

Killer just really depends. I’m a pig main and I run Scorpionz build. Brutal strength, enduring, monitor and abuse, and whispers. Too much to explain the build so here’s Scorpionz build

Second one is Benjo build, can work for most killers but I usually run it on Myers. Iron grasp, agitation, bloodwarden, mad grit.

For survivor, I almost exclusively play with at least 1 friend, so I’m running a very team-oriented build. I’ve got Botany Knowledge for faster healing, Sprint Burst for running away, Prove Thyself for crazy generator speed, and Kindred for the team coordination value.

For killer, I play Wraith, Ghost face, and Singularity. Wraith and Singularity have my “good stuff” build: No One Escapes Death, Jolt, and Fear Monger, with Wraith taking Bloodhound as a 4th for better chasing and Sing taking Thrilling Tremors for map info. Ghost face skips Noed (since he has built in exposed), and takes monger, jolt, tremors, and I’m All Ears.

I’m fairly new to the game, so I don’t have a ton of perks yet, but I’m pretty happy with my builds so far, they feel really solid and useful even if they’re not super synergy or exciting.

It can be a pain trying to get all the perks you want or think you need. Thankfully, the devs have reduced the grind in the recent years. I have thousands of hours in the game and can remember putting off playing some killers because I didn’t have the “right” build.

At least the generic perks cover some pretty good bases. I was musing with my friend who got me into it, that while getting everything is an astronomical grind, at least getting any particular thing isn’t so hard, usually like a day to prestige a given person. I’m also very able/willing to buy character packs, so at least I don’t have to grind Iris to get new guys

I basically only play with friends, so I bring Quick and Quiet + Head On, and then some support perks like Botany or Prove Thyself.

Usually though, I do an “alphabet build”. I have my friends pick a random page and slot number (1-15),then all four of my perks have to be “connected” to that perk in alphabetical order

Deja Vu is currently a bit overpowered (shows 3 generator auras with no time limit, and gives repair bonus to those gens), so I bring that to help gens go faster. I bring Empathy as a good general information perk that lets me heal teammates that are in the middle of nowhere.

Also been having fun with Dead Hard; I tended not to bring it when it was overpowered and frustrating, but killers tend not to expect it now, so I can use it for an extra free hit if I’m caught injured.

Botany Knowledge Prove Thyself Windows of Opportunity Residual Manifest

Healing changes made me keep Botany as I find teammates doing fuck all if they don’t get get healed.

Prove Thyself cause I find a lot of killers just jamming slowdowns since the perk changes began.

Windows has been my crutch perk since Kate released. I saw a huge rise in usage since the last shakeup so I fear this may get nerfed.

Residual is my only free slot I change around. Just trying to learn how to use a flashlight at the moment. Don’t want Killers getting scared and bringing Lightborn.

For survivor my go to lately has been We’ll make it, Prove Thyself, Blast Mine, and Sprint burst. Blast mine is just so satisfying even if it isn’t super strong, and the others give me a little boost in different situations.

For killer I like aura perks, bitter murmurs is my go-to, but I also have been dabbling in slow down with eruption and the like.

Also on trapper I like to run agitation, unnerving presence, Huntress Lullaby, and something like enduring

I used to always like mixing up my builds and trying new things or tailoring them to different rift/archive challenges I’m working on, which is still what I do as a killer, but as survivor I’ve found a build I love too much and feel lost af every time I switch anything out lol. I need to start mixing it up again so I stop being so reliant on it.

Survivor build: Overcome, Lucky Break, Distortion, and usually Empathy or Reassurance, but I’ve been using Calm Spirt instead lately because of how many times I’ve been going up against Doctors or people using Face the Darkness/Infectious Fright and just wanting a break from the screaming.

I’m soloQ and play console with crossplay, so I suck in chases lol. Making a build that helps me be stealthy and boosts my chances to leave a chase is really clutch.
