Baldur’s Gate 3 may be a fantastic fantasy RPG, but Larian Studios also decided to follow an annoying PC gaming trend that could have been avoided.
It’s a launcher, if you aren’t interested in clicking through.
And I agree. No reason for this game to have a launcher.
Gamerant continues one annoying article title trend.

It’s also trivial to skip the launcher by adding
--skip-launcher
to the Launch Options.I am going to try this tomorrow. But I have to figure out a way to default to Vulkan without launcher.
You can change your launch options to
"install location/bin/bg3.exe" %command%
to both disable the launcher and launch in vulkan mode. Usebg3_dx11.exe
for the dx11 version. However, use caution, when I tried this, it did launch without launcher using Vulkan, but I didn’t have access to my saves for some reason. I switched back and may saves are back again. So, not sure what’s up with that.
That is strange. I will try it tomorrow and report back. Thanks!
It didn’t work for me. But thanks for trying. I will keep selecting Vulkan and play each time I launch it
There might be another command line option for using vk instead of dx. I’m not sure of that though.
Game Reviewer: Let’s see, after early release they didn’t abandon it after taking in some beta money. It’s not flooded with pay to win or micro-transactions. It seems to play well and is getting good reviews. What can we complain about? I’ve got it! The damned launcher!

Sure, sure. No argument, and upvote. It’s just nice that a game I purchased early access was actually completed and seems to be a banger so far. I usually avoid beta launches, and have yet to commit to another favorite, Kerbal 2. I’m thinking that may wind up as $50 abandonware. Having tons of fun with BG3 so far though. Happy gaming!
Stop buying early access games then.
There’s a launcher?
I have a shortcut directly to the executable on my desktop and it just launches right into the game.
Launcher are not needed. I should be able to do everything a launcher does in the game settings. All 3 of Larian’s games have a launchers.
Anyway, I still love their games. Hope they drop the launcher for Divinity 3.
Id be suprised if they make a divinity 3, i figured bg3 is kind of a spiritual successor
I saw somewhere saying they’d be down in doing DOS3, but not anytime soon
Can very easily skip it using launch arguments. I believe it’s “–skip-launcher”
Yeah took me 30 seconds to google the command and put it into steam lol.
Is it disabled by default on Linux? Because I’ve never even seen it.
