It’s a modified form of slavery: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wage_slavery
‘The abolitionist and former slave Frederick Douglass initially declared “now I am my own master”, upon taking a paying job.[31] However, later in life he concluded to the contrary, saying “experience demonstrates that there may be a slavery of wages only a little less galling and crushing in its effects than chattel slavery, and that this slavery of wages must go down with the other”.’
The 4chan term is “wagecuck”.
As fucked in the head as 4chan is they come up with some funny ass words
Also wage slave and wagie lol
only a little less galling
That hits different coming from a former chattle slave
B-b-but in Epic Rap Battles of History, Frederick Douglass said, “The face of a free man, taught himself to read, man”, what do you mean he still felt like a slave in a wage system??
wait… you get paid enough to pay for food and shelter?
Have you tried having a hobby outside of work?
2 steps ahead of u: i dont work
While I agree with the spirit of this post, I don’t know it I’ve ever seen anyone propose an alternative, legit system.
Employee-ownership of the company, like Bob’s Red Mill.
We could start with a little more time off
Read ‘The Dispossessed’ by Ursula Le Guin.
If we’re stopping short of a literal revolution that abolishes the existence of money — which would be poggers — employee funds have been proposed as a way of transitioning businesses into full employee ownership. That would fix a lot of the most immediate issues we face.
I’m all for Work Reform. The profits need to be shared amongst the employees better, and there should be no billionaires - this 4,000% needs to stop. But there will always be “work” that needs to be done, and there needs to be people to do said work. There will always need to be employees and a manager that “manages” them, otherwise there will be no organization and work efficiency will absolutely collapse.
