Is it counter intuitive when you look in the mirror so you would use the right taper guard on your left side and vice versa? Or does it go from your own perspective where left taper would go on left side? Hope this makes sense, I’ve been cutting my own hair for years and this has always confused me.

This is the answer. I usually take the attachment and comb my hair with it to make sure it lines up with what I want it to do BEFORE I attach it and start clipping.

The label corresponsends with the side you are cutting. The right taper is for your right side and left taper for the left.

Each works for both sides, you just have to change from front-to-back to back-to-front.

A good couple passes each way and I like to taper from the ear to my forehead and over my neck too.

I started doing it with the pandemic and now I can’t bring myself to pay a barber again.

Totally. A single haircut costs the same as a cordless clipper set…

So when I’m looking in the mirror at myself, I use the right taper on my right side? Thank you so much! I’ve been doing this for years but I don’t know why that has always been confusing for me…

Think of it from the perspective of a person cutting your hair, they’d use the right guard on your right side regardless of a mirror being in the equation.

I just don’t use them, but the shorter part goes towards your ear.

I use both tappers, and go front to back, and then back to front with the low side towards the ear. This gets me most stray hairs with only a few remaining to trim after.

I’ve been cutting my own for years, never considered using a taper guard. Hmm.
